Apple plans to utilise a 1.2 trillion-parameter artificial intelligence model from Alphabet's Google to power a revamp of its Siri voice assistant. This development was shared by Bloomberg News on Wednesday, as reported by Reuters.

Following an evaluation, the companies are finalising a deal. Apple would reportedly pay about USD 1 billion annually for access to Google's technology.

The iPhone maker will reportedly use Google's Gemini model as a temporary measure until its own systems are prepared. With 1.2 trillion parameters, the model's complexity would significantly exceed Apple's current AI capabilities.
Siri has historically shown less capability than Alexa and Google Assistant in managing complex, multi-step requests, and integrating with third-party applications.
This agreement is distinct from previous discussions concerning direct Gemini chatbot integration into Siri. The partnership will not incorporate Google's AI search into Apple's operating systems.
Apple had previously stated that AI improvements to Siri would be delayed until 2026. No reason was provided for this setback.
Rival companies have rapidly incorporated AI features into their voice assistants. Google integrated its Gemini model into its assistant last year, and Amazon rolled out an AI-driven overhaul of the Alexa assistant earlier this year.
Apple reorganised its executive leadership to accelerate its AI initiatives following several months of delays. Mike Rockwell assumed leadership of Siri. This change occurred after Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook reportedly lost confidence in AI head John Giannandrea's product development capabilities.
Apple intends to use Google's 1.2 trillion-parameter AI model to revamp its Siri assistant.
The deal is reportedly worth about USD 1 billion per year for access to Google's technology.
Google's Gemini model will act as a temporary solution until Apple's proprietary systems are ready.
