Apple Supposedly Releasing "Flood of New Products" Alongside iPhone 14

Apple is expected to have a very busy launch schedule within the next year, if new reports are to be believed.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims the Cupertino company "is about to embark on one of the most ambitious periods of new products in its history".

He notes that between the second half of this year and the first half of next year, Apple plans to release four iPhone 14 models, three Apple Watch variations, a number of M2- and M3-equipped Macs, updated iPads for different price points, another iteration of the AirPods Pro earbuds, a new HomePod, an upgraded AppleTV and its first mixed-reality headset.

There’s already been plenty of reports about the iPhone 14, and Gurman didn’t mention anything in his report that hasn’t been mentioned before. He did, however, share some details and his own predictions of the other products, most of which is new information.

For iPads, for example, he said he expects Apple to release new 11-inch and 12.9-inch models with M2 chips later this year. He said that later in the near future the company could also release a larger model, one with a display that measures around 14 to 15 inches.

As for Macs, he said Apple is already working on several more systems that will ship with its new M2 processor to join the refreshed MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, which debuted at WWDC 2022. Among the new Macs in the pipeline are an M2 Mac mini, an M2 Pro Mac mini, M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pros that come in 14- and 16-inch models and an M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme Mac Pro.

Meanwhile, Apple is also said to be developing the M3, the successor of the M2. The new chip could be used as early as next year on updated versions of the 13- and 15-inch Macbook Air, a new iMac and perhaps even an entirely new 12-inch laptop.

For the Apple Watch, Gurman claims the S8 chips on this year’s releases will use the same specifications as last year’s S7. He adds that Apple’s wearables aren’t expected to get a new processor until next year.

The new HomePod, he says, will house the same S8 chips on the watches. With regards to its size and audio performance, it will be closer to the now-discontinued original HomePod instead of the HomePod mini. It could also feature an updated display and multi-touch functionality.

The new Apple TV, which is still in development, will similarly get some upgrades by way of an A14 chip and an extra gigabyte of RAM memory.

The new AirPods Pro will ship with an updated chip and will support higher-quality audio.

Finally, Apple's first-ever mixed reality headset, according to Gurman, will be powered by the M2 chip and 16 gigabytes of RAM, noting how the latest internal versions of the product are running with these specifications. While he didn't mention any other details, he did say how Apple already hinted at the long-rumoured headset's operating system, realityOS, at WWDC.
