Anthropic Launches Latest AI Model, Three Months After Previous Release
Anthropic releases Claude 3.5 Sonnet, its latest AI model, three months after the launch of Claude 3. The new model outperforms its predecessor in benchmark exams and runs twice as fast. Anthropic offers the latest technology for free on Claude.ai and an iOS app, along with the option to organise generated content through the "Artifacts" feature.
This action is part of the industry's continuing race to push technological frontiers.
Anthropic has launched Claude 3.5 Sonnet, only three months after unveiling the Claude 3 family of AI models. In compared to its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, which CEO Dario Amodei referred to as the "Rolls-Royce of models" back in March, the latest system has higher benchmark exam results, runs around twice as quickly, and is priced at one-fifth the cost for software developers.
Amodei emphasised the adaptability of AI models, saying, "AI models are a bit more fungible than cars. I don't have to buy them and hold onto them for 20 years. That's one advantage of our field."
Anthropic is not alone in making quick advances in AI. OpenAI, the originator of ChatGPT, as well as Google and other industry participants, are all making substantial progress in this area.
Anthropic has made its latest technology freely available to end users via the Claude.ai platform and an iOS app. Additionally, online visitors can now select for a feature called "Artefacts," which puts the information generated by Claude in a window display alongside their interaction with the AI. This might include everything from novel plot outlines to small computer games.
In addition to the Artefacts function, Anthropic has created a new group membership package to help with cooperation and final product manufacturing. According to Amodei, this is a step towards allowing people to collaborate and use the AI model to produce polished end results.
Anthropic has big ambitions for the future, with more AI models coming out this year, including Claude 3.5 Opus. Amodei underlined the company's dedication to a rapid release cycle while emphasising safety concerns.
