A Toothbrush That Cleans All of Your Teeth in Just 10 Seconds and More at CES 2020
Updated: Aug 19, 2021
CES is that time of year when all the interesting technology from smaller companies get put on display in one central location, so it’s no surprise that we’ll see some cool products that solve a pain point none of us have considered before.
1. Y-Brush

The first one is probably going to be a great hit with people who hate having to take time to meticulously brush their teeth in the mornings and evenings. Y-Brush by FasTeesh is an electric toothbrush with bristles attached to a Y-shaped head that brushes all the teeth on the top or bottom simultaneously.
All the user has to do is align their upper or lower teeth with the brush that has toothpaste applied, turn the device on and chew slightly to create motion. The brush automatically stops after 5 seconds, and that’s when the user knows to flip the brush over and use it on the other side of their teeth.
It’s definitely something interesting; the creators say this was developed with help from dentists so it should be relatively efficient at cleaning off plaque and dirt and helping users maintain oral hygiene. The Y-Brush (US$125) is available on their website.
2. Impossible Pork / Impossible Sausage

Impossible Burger launched in 2016 and that was the only product that Impossible Foods had, until this year when they announced Impossible Pork and Impossible Sausage. It’s a pretty logical move, seeing as it was a bit of a hassle to adapt the Impossible Burger to sausage form for consumers who want a plant-based meat substitute.
And with pigs being the most widely eaten animal in the world, Impossible Pork is something that will hopefully reduce the environmental cost of rearing pigs for consumption. Commercial availability wasn’t announced, but we’re hopeful that it will come to market soon.
3. Bello, Digital Belly Fat Scanner

There are plenty of weighing scales around that also measure your fat percentage, but what if you want to only measure your belly fat? Well, Bello is there for you.
The device utilises near-infrared technology to do a three-second scan of fat deposits on the stomach area and sends that data to their app on the user’s phone, which then offers up dietary and exercise recommendations as well as draws a report on the status and potential risks of fat levels.
Bello is currently running their campaign on Indiegogo and it has already hit the funding goal, so that’s a good sign. For me, ignorance is bliss, so I think I’ll pass on knowing exactly how much fat is stored on my tummy.
4. Rovee Robot, Wireless Charging

I know, I know, wireless charging is nothing new. But wireless charging without having to put your phone on a mat? That’s new. GuRu Wireless showcased their Rovee Robot this year, a Roomba-like robot that can travel from room to room as it detects which devices are in need of a top-up.
The company has developed a system of sending energy over distance through radiofrequency (RF) waves. This negates the need to leave phones and devices on a charging mat. Right now, the technology hasn’t been built into existing devices, so the only way to showcase how it works is by attaching a recovery unit on the back of phones or devices, but once the technology is adopted by more brands and implemented into the hardware, we’re looking at the true definition of wireless charging, and we’ve never been more excited.
5. Insta360 One R

Fancy a 360-degree camera that can swap lenses for a 4K wide-angle or 1-inch wide-angle? Well, you can get that with the new Insta360 One R modular camera. It’s relatively similar to the Insta360 One X, but with a new OLED touchscreen, voice control, Type-C connector and 100 mbps H.265 bitrate.
The 1-inch mod was co-engineered with Leica, so you know you’ll be getting excellent optical quality with that mod. We’ve heard that the One R will be reaching our sunny shores at the beginning of February, so interested parties might want to keep an eye out for that!
Of course, there was a lot more that was showcased at CES 2020 than just these five products but these really do depict how the tech industry seems to be headed. Efficiency, convenience and hopefully, products that will be more environmentally friendly.
