ZTE Is Back In Singapore With Their Axon And Blade Smartphones!

If you have an esoteric interest in smartphones, you might have heard of the brand ZTE in the past; much like other brands, they carry phones of all price points. Although in recent years, their presence has been relatively scarce, as they haven't been actively pushing for sales within the Singapore market for quite a while.

But today, well, since January 2023, to be exact, ZTE is back in Singapore with five of its existing premium and budget smartphones from 2022, so let's take a quick look!

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra

Starting from the most premium option in the lineup, we have the Axon 40 Ultra. It has a curved edge design similar to the S23 Ultra and a smooth sand-blasted back texture, while the front houses the 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of up to 1,116 by 2,480 pixels and goes up to 120Hz.

It's powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and features a triple 64MP camera setup and a beefy 5,000mAh battery, which should get you through the day or so.

Unfortunately, it's only available in its 12+256GB configuration if you buy it in Singapore and considering what you would be getting, the price is rather steep at S$1,499. Still, it should be good enough to last you through the year.

ZTE Axon 40 Pro

If the price tag of the 40 Ultra is a tough call for you, the Axon 40 Pro is the next available option with a 108MP main shooter, a Snapdragon 870 and a 5,000mAh battery.

With a 6.67-inch, 1,080 by 2,400 pixel AMOLED panel, it initially seems like a typical smartphone, but once you take a closer look, you'll see that the display actually goes up to 144Hz, which is pretty cool.

The design also goes the slim route with curved edges, with a much fancier camera compartment with gold accents around it, although the back is on the glossier side, so do keep a cloth handy or rock a case.

Similarly to its older brother, it only comes in a 12+256GB configuration at S$999.

ZTE Blade V41 Vita

Next, we're treading in the budget territory with the Blade V41 Vita, sporting a straight-edged design at 7.98mm thick and a 6.6-inch (1,080 by 2,408 pixels) IPS LCD panel that runs up to 90Hz.

It also features a triple camera setup with a 50MP shooter and the two smaller 2MP macro and depth sensor. The Dimensity 810 powers the phone, and all of it is kept juiced by the 4,500mAh battery housed within it.

You get pretty good performance for the dollar at S$379 for the 6+128GB configuration, not to mention it's a pretty sleek-looking machine that doesn't look budget in the least.

ZTE Blade A72 and A52

Last but not least, we have the Blade A72 and A52; both phones are kitted with a 6.52-inch IPS LCD panel (720x1,600 pixels), but only the A72 can hit a higher refresh rate of 90Hz.

The A72 and A52 are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 and Unisoc SC9863A, respectively, but the A72 has a smaller 4,000mAh battery compared to the A52 at 5,000mAh. Furthermore, in the ROM department, the A72 is configured at 4+128GB, while the A52 only has half the storage at 4+64GB.

The last few differences to note are that the A72 uses a side-mounted fingerprint reader and type-C charging, while the A52 goes old school with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and micro USB.

Both also feature a triple camera setup of a 13MP main and two 2MP secondary cameras and come with headphone jacks too.

The A72 and A52 start at S$299 and S$189, respectively, and unlike the other phones mentioned previously, they also have colour variants available, Space Gray and Pearlescent Blue for the A72 or Space Gray and Crystal Blue for the A52.

Pricing and Availability

The five ZTE phones have been available in Singapore since 13 January 2023 at various retail (Challenger, Gain City) and e-commerce platforms (Lazada, Shopee).
