Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G Review: Redefining Budget and Flagship

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G is one of the best smartphones currently out in the market with a sleek design reminiscent of its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. It is still the simple but impressively high-quality design all Xiaomi users know and love. The polished silver back colour is not something to scoff at either.

The Mi 10T Pro 5G’s triple-camera array contains a 108MP lens, as well as an ultrawide 13MP lens, and 5MP macro lens. Photos are sharp and clear, and videos captured with the Mi 10T Pro 5G on hand look gorgeous due to the camera being able to capture videos at 4K 120fps.

However, pictures captured with the rear camera won’t be perfect as they tend to lose details in the shadows. The 30x zoom, although useful, is not as impressive as Huawei’s due to the loss of detail.

The phone’s display boasts a 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution along with a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen is also now flat, which might be good news for people who don’t enjoy the curved waterfall edge display that was popular in 2020.

You can also customise the display settings and colours to your preferences with pre-set configurations to choose from, and even fine-tune these configurations.

Inside, the Mi 10T Pro 5G houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G processor with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB on-board storage, making this phone feel snappy even with plenty of applications running.

There’s also a 5000mAh battery inside that supports 33W fast charging, but there’s no wireless charging. The battery can last up to a day and a half of constant use though, and if you lower the refresh rate, you might be able to squeeze out a bit more.

The speakers in the Mi 10T Pro 5G deliver clear and loud audio, and there’s a built-in equaliser to fine tune the audio to your liking. The Mi 10T Pro 5G’s fingerprint reader is integrated into the power button as opposed to being an under-display reader like most other phones in the market.

Xiaomi actually provides an antibacterial case with the phone, which is great because the phone itself is light and rather slippery, so having the case for extra protection is definitely a plus.

At just S$799, this phone really does blur the lines between budget and flagship.
