The new vehicle, called the ID.UNYX, comes equipped with advanced features such as a wide range of infotainment options and a convenient autonomous parking function. The price of the ID.UNYX ranges from RMB 209,900 to RMB 249,900 ($28,918-$34,429). However, early buyers will enjoy a reduced price of RMB 199,900, as Volkswagen is offering a discount of RMB 5,000 on the final price, in addition to a total discount of RMB 10,000 on the original ticket price.

One of the key highlights of the ID.UNYX is its impressive driving range of 621 kilometres (386 miles) on a single charge. This puts it in direct competition with Tesla's Model Y, which has a range of 554 km and is priced at RMB 249,900 in China.

Volkswagen Anhui, the German automaker's third joint venture in China, has ambitious plans for expansion. The company aims to enter 20 cities in China this year and plans to expand its sales network to 70 cities by the end of 2025. This move demonstrates Volkswagen's commitment to the Chinese market and its desire to tap into the growing demand for electric vehicles.

Volkswagen has had a long-standing presence in China, with joint ventures with SAIC and FAW. In 2017, the company partnered with JAC Motors, headquartered in Anhui, to establish Volkswagen Anhui. This joint venture has allowed Volkswagen to strengthen its position in the Chinese market and cater to the specific needs and preferences of Chinese consumers.

The launch of the ID.UNYX marks an important milestone for Volkswagen in its electric vehicle strategy. With its sleek design, advanced features, and competitive pricing, the ID.UNYX is poised to make a significant impact in the Chinese SUV market.
