Vivo has launched its latest foldable smartphone, the X Fold 5, outside of China, positioning it as a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Vivo X Fold 5 features a 6,000mAh carbon-silicon battery, nearly 37% larger than the 4,400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.

Despite the larger battery, the device maintains a slim profile at 9.2mm when folded and weighs 217 grams. This is a reduction from the 11.2mm thickness and 239 grams of the previous Vivo X Fold 3 Pro.

The phone includes a refined folding mechanism with a carbon fibre support hinge and second-generation Armor Glass on the cover screen. It is rated IPX8, IPX9, IPX9+ for water resistance and IP5X for dust resistance.
The X Fold 5 offers an 8.03-inch flexible LTPO inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ support, and a resolution of 2200x2480 pixels. The outer screen measures 6.53 inches with a resolution of 2748x1172 pixels and the same refresh rate and brightness.
Running on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15, the phone introduces a new Workbench feature for multitasking and retains the Fold-to-Split feature from its predecessor.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the same as in the X Fold 3 Pro, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
It includes a triple 50MP rear camera system developed with Zeiss, featuring a Sony IMX921 primary sensor with f/1.57 aperture and OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical and 100x digital zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view.
There are also two 50MP front cameras, one on each display.
The Vivo X Fold 5 is priced at INR 1,49,999 (approximately USD 1,745) for the 16GB + 512GB variant. It is available in Titanium Grey and will go on sale from July 30 via Flipkart and Vivo’s official website.
