Viddsee Partners With Dolby To Enable Creators Access to Next-Gen Audio-Visual Technologies
Updated: Dec 18, 2023
Viddsee wants to enhance the audio-visual quality of its original films.
For that, the creator platform is partnering with Dolby Laboratories, a specialist in immersive audio-visual technologies and standards, to support the growth of up-and-coming storytellers. The partnership will see the use of Dolby’s next-generation audio-visual technologies, Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos immersive audio, in the production of films in Viddsee's Scene City Anthology – a short film slate commissioned by Viddsee that recognises up-and-coming talents.
"We are proud to showcase what this collaboration with Dolby means for our storytellers," said Mr Ho Jia Jian, CEO and Founder of Viddsee. "It has the potential to equip storytellers in this region with improved technical capabilities for their films, not only helping the careers of our budding filmmakers, but creating platforms and opportunities to showcase stories from the best quality possible."
What's more, Dolby will support storytellers by providing post-production help, training and workshops on using its technologies in films as part of the partnership. This initiative is kicking off with the film Solitude – Viddsee’s first Dolby-enabled Original.
Solitude was screened on 24 October 2023 at the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)’s PIXEL Innovation Hub, which was then followed by a panel discussion on how the partnership has elevated the audio-visual quality of the film.
Viddsee and Dolby's partnership will offer up to 10 filmmakers from Viddsee's upcoming Scene City Anthology slate over the next two years an opportunity to produce and distribute films in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The partnership will also provide educational opportunities for Viddsee's creator community through workshops and masterclasses that Dolby will host.
"Working closely with storytellers in Singapore and the region, we know that many are open to adopting new technologies into their production work that can empower their content creation process," said Mr Ashim Mathur, Vice President, APAC Marketing Dolby Laboratories. "More storytellers in Singapore are using Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for its accessibility and flexibility, helping them in their overall workflow."
Mr Mathur also added that Dolby's tool are becoming increasingly more accessible for content creation. Today's storytellers simply need a laptop, headphones and the editing software Davinci Resolve to mix and finish an original project.
