UBTECH Launches UWORLD Humanoid Robots for Domestic Companionship

UBTECH has introduced a new consumer brand, UWORLD, featuring the U1 series of humanoid robots designed for home settings. The company leveraged engineering experience from industrial applications to develop these machines for emotional engagement.
The U1 series includes two models, one standing 183 cm tall and another measuring 168 cm. These robots feature silicone exteriors, expressive facial features, and 88 degrees of freedom for coordinated movement.
Each unit connects to cloud services via Wi-Fi and operates for 2 to 4 hours per charge. An onboard artificial intelligence system monitors conversations, tone, and facial expressions to assess the mood of the user.
The robots are designed to offer encouragement or participate in conversation based on detected sentiment. Personal memories remain encrypted locally on the device to maintain user privacy.
Owners may modify cosmetic appearances and character traits to evolve the personality of their robot. These units are limited to basic movements such as sitting, standing, and walking across flat surfaces.
The devices cannot climb stairs, traverse rough terrain, or perform household chores. Users are restricted from applying custom programming or configuring new functions.
Pre-orders through JD.com require a deposit of 3,000 yuan, with over 2,000 reservations recorded shortly after launch. Shipments for early orders are scheduled for mid-Sept.
A public presentation is set for June 30 to announce final pricing, specific features, and future software updates. The manufacturer indicates these models will be more affordable than industrial systems.
