Twitter Offers Revenue Share to Verified Content Creators, Boosting Platform Appeal
Updated: Jan 8, 2024
Twitter announces that select verified content creators can now earn a portion of the advertising revenue generated by their replies, as the platform aims to attract more creators.
Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Twitter, reiterates plans to pass on subscription revenue to creators, minus payment gateway fees, in the initial year.
Twitter revealed on Thursday that it will be granting a revenue share opportunity to chosen content creators on its social media platform. The company stated that creators will receive a portion of the advertising revenue generated from ads displayed within their replies.
To qualify for this program, content creators must be verified users with a minimum of 5 million impressions on their posts in the last three months, along with having a Stripe payment account. By implementing this initiative, Twitter seeks to draw a larger pool of content creators to its platform.
Earlier this year, Twitter took a step towards monetization by allowing users to offer paid subscriptions to their content on the platform. In line with this move, Elon Musk, the billionaire who acquired Twitter in October last year, affirmed that during the initial year, the company would pass on the entire subscription revenue to creators, excluding charges incurred by the payment gateway.
Twitter introduces revenue sharing for verified content creators, enabling them to earn a portion of ad revenue from their replies.
To be eligible, creators must be verified users with a minimum of 5 million impressions per month over the past three months and possess a Stripe payment account.
The move aims to attract more content creators to the Twitter platform.
