U.S. President Donald Trump remarked on Thursday that artificial intelligence was taking over the world and expressed hope that technology leaders understood its implications, stating he did not. His comments came during his second state visit to Britain, where he and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted prominent business and technology figures.

Among the attendees was Jensen Huang, chief executive officer of chipmaker Nvidia. Addressing Mr. Huang, President Trump said, "This will create new government, academic and private sector cooperation in areas such as AI, which is taking over the world." He added that he hoped the tech leaders were correct in their endeavours.
President Trump and Prime Minister Starmer subsequently signed a "Tech Prosperity Deal." This agreement aims to foster joint efforts in developing artificial intelligence models for healthcare, expanding quantum computing capabilities, and streamlining civil nuclear projects between the two nations.

As a direct outcome of this deal, Nvidia announced its intention to deploy 120,000 graphics processing units across Britain. This initiative represents the organisation's most substantial rollout in Europe to date, underscoring the scale of the technological partnership.
Before formally signing the agreement, President Trump humorously questioned Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about proceeding with the signature. He light-heartedly stated that if the deal proved unsuccessful, he would hold Bessent responsible.
