TikTok TV Rolls Out in Singapore
Want to watch TikTok content on your living room TV instead of your mobile device? You can now do so, with TikTok TV now rolling out across different TV sets and software.
TikTok announced today in a post that TikTok TV is now available on Google TV and Android TV OS devices, along with Samsung Smart TVs. The app is also coming to LG TVs in the coming weeks, though no exact date has been given yet.
"We’re taking TikTok to the big screen in the living room, offering a new way to experience the joy and creativity of TikTok together at home," said the short-form video giant. "With our mobile app, we bring people little bursts of joy, and the big screen experience allows families and friends to enjoy TikTok as part of their daily or weekly routine together."
You can use your existing TikTok account to log in to TikTok TV and personalise your viewing experience. The app also works similarly to its mobile counterpart, allowing you to easily browse and watch content from your "For You" and "Following" feeds. This includes trending videos from different categories, such as gaming, comedy, food and animals, among so many others.
"From day one, TikTok's mission has been to inspire creativity and bring joy, cultivating an entertaining space for positive, creative expression, and we're excited to bring TikTok to more living rooms across Singapore."
TikTok, which has over one billion daily active users, launched TikTok TV in North America in late 2021. The launch underscores the company's desire to be seen as an entertainment-first platform rather than a social media platform. It also came amid a surge in YouTube viewing on TVs in the U.S. TikTok believes that by bringing the app to TVs, it can capture a wider audience and serve more ads.
