When it comes to business reviews, the name David could soon be the online equivalent to the now-infamous Karen.
According to Trustpilot, a third-party website that allows consumers to review businesses, those named David are biggest complainers online. At least 20,020 people with this name have left one-star reviews since the website launched in 2007.
The data, however, only covers those residing in the United Kingdom, not the world. So if you're from there and named David, you might want to take the whining and moaning down a notch.
Those hose named Paul came in second with 19,562 one-star reviews, followed closely by those named John with 18,632. Those named Chris and Mark, meanwhile, round out the top five, with 16,642 and 16,495, respectively.
What can be further observed from the data is that two-thirds of the names that make the top complainers list are traditionally male names, with Steve, Michael, Andrew and Richard also featuring.
Additionally, those named David are most likely to leave the most one-star reviews in the different retail sector categories of the website. These include "electronics and technology", "home and garden" and "money and insurance".
Only two traditionally female names made the same list – Sarah and Emma. The former placed seventh with 13,971 one-star reviews, while the latter placed 14 with 9,838 reviews.
"These reviewers’ commitment to posting their frustrated feedback on Trustpilot has helped thousands of businesses improve their service and millions of consumers avoid customer service catastrophes," said Carolyn Jameson, Trustpilot spokeswoman.
"It’s vitally important that businesses engage with the negatives, showing consumers they are keen to rectify the potential issues and improve from the feedback they receive."
Trustpilot did say that only 14% of users give a one-star review of businesses on the website compared to the 73% that give positive reviews.
