Spotify Users In Singapore Can Now Get Song Recommendations from Talking AI DJ

Your next favourite song can be recommended by an artificial intelligence (AI) companion.
Spotify is rolling out the AI-powered DJ feature, in Beta, to Premium users in Singapore. DJ, which the music streaming giant touts has become the most discussed feature on social media, delivers personalised recommendations based on your music taste, connecting you with artists it thinks you'll like.
The AI guide can choose what to play for you and delivers a curated lineup of music alongside commentary around your activity on the app in a realistic voice. The commentary features contextual information that references specific songs and artists that you've played. It's sort of like having your own personal radio DJ.
Spotify notes that the feature leverages a combination of the app's personalisation algorithms and generative AI, including a dynamic voice generator. At launch, you'll have the option to hear English language commentary from the initial voice model, Spotify’s Head of Cultural Partnerships, Xavier "X" Jernigan.
"Personalisation is at the heart of Spotify," said the popular music service in a news release. "The beauty of these experiences is Spotify’s ability to deliver the right piece of music for that exact moment in time, and maybe even connect you with your next favourite artist in the process."
To access the feature, open the Spotify mobile app on your Android or iOS device, head to your Music Feed on Home and tap play on DJ.
The feature first debuted in the U.S. and Canada in February before hitting the U.K. and Ireland three months later. Now it's expanding to more than 50 markets around the globe as a beta feature, including Australia, New Zealand, Ghana, Sweden, Pakistan, Singapore, the Philippines and South Africa.
Spotify says that because DJ is still in beta, you can expect it to expand its capabilities and continue to improve over time.
