Sony Xperia 5 IV Can Be Pre-Ordered Now In Malaysia And Singapore

Last month, Sony unveiled the Xperia 5 IV, its latest device in the IV lineup that sits in between the Xperia 1 IV and the Xperia 10 IV. Now, the company is bringing the phone to both Malaysia and Singapore, opening up pre-orders. Despite being the middle child of the series, it still boasts flagship specs and a very premium price tag.

Sony claims that the Xperia 5 IV, which has a 6.1-inch OLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate, is now 50% brighter than its predecessor but otherwise, the device appears essentially the same. The phone maintains IP68 dust and water resistance and is shielded on both sides by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Xperia 5 IV's internal hardware consists of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a microSD card slot for up to 1TB of storage extension. Along with being compatible with Wi-Fi 6, NFC and Bluetooth 5.2, the new model also supports Bluetooth LE audio.

Additionally, Sony has included three 12MP cameras on the back of the Xperia 5 IV: a 24mm primary lens, a 60mm telephoto lens without optical zoom and a 16mm ultra-wide lens. Only the main and telephoto cameras have OIS, although all three support 4K 120fps video recording. Up front, you will find a 12MP selfie shooter.

The battery capacity has increased significantly from last year's 4,500mAh to 5,000mAh. Furthermore, the phone adds wireless charging and even reverse wireless charging compatibility. In terms of audio, the Xperia 5 IV is one of the few high-end phones still equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Sony Xperia 5 IV retails at RM4,899 in Malaysia and S$1,599 in Singapore. Pre-orders are available now in both markets, but the phone will first arrive in Singapore on 20 October while Malaysia will be receiving it on 25 October.
