Sony’s latest imaging innovations are enabling creators and enthusiasts alike to capture every moment of the World Aquatics Championships in stunning detail.

As the global imaging partner of the event, which is happening in Singapore from 11 July to 3 August 2025, the Japanese electronics giant has committed to deliver awe-inspiring moments of aquatics athletes’ achievements with the world.

Part of that commitment is allowing the public to experience first-hand how Sony’s state-of-the-art technologies capture the excitement and artistry of aquatic sports.
As such, the company has set up a dedicated booth at the Fan Zone beside the World Aquatics Championships Arena that articulates its philosophy in empowering creators to realise their vision. And that vision means photographers covering the competition are able to capture “kando” moments using Sony cameras.

For those unfamiliar, “kando” is a Japanese term that’s meant to encapsulate the intense and profound emotion that athletes might feel in competition. While “kando” is not some fleeting emotion like happiness or sadness, for instance, it’s not always easy to capture in a still image. This is why Sony said it’s important for photographers to be able to compose shots quickly so they can capture that precise “kando” moment. And the company’s Alpha mirrorless cameras with G Lens and G Master Lens can help them do just that.
“The synergy between Sony Alpha cameras and the G Master lenses enable the entire Alpha system to maximize the speed and performance of the autofocus system. This then enables photographers to freely focus on the defining moments themselves, not the technical aspects of the cameras,” said Chiou Bing Han, Head of Digital Imaging for Southeast at Sony Electronics (Singapore)
Bob Martin, a multi award-winning sports photographer, also said, “The interesting thing for me about camera technology is it allows me to be more of a photographer.”

However, as important as technology is, Martin said it's the eye behind the camera that brings the photo to life.
“The art of sports photography is really composing and shooting quickly. A clever sports photographer is able to compose in a heartbeat and capture a moment in an instant. Obviously, the cameras help do that, but composition is the real skill today of a good sports photographer,” he added.

“The PDT FP1 5G transmitter enables the photographers to transmit the photos and videos from the field directly to their newsroom, as well as through their mobile devices. This enables the photographers to work wirelessly and also independently on the field, while being able to provide real time updates to the newsroom.”
Those who want to check out the “kando” moments captured using Sony’s Alpha mirrorless cameras can do so via the TV wall at the company’s booth. They can participate in the global campaign to stand a chance and win a ZV-1F Vlog camera or the WF-1000XM5 wireless noise cancelling headphones.
Sony is also running a special promotion in Singapore for their Alpha cameras from 1 July till 31 August. With each successful product registration on My Sony Rewards for purchase of any Alpha Full-frame cameras or G Master Lenses, customers will receive a limited edition Sony x World Aquatics 2025 camera strap, while stocks last.
