Teo underlined the significance of creating a globally agreed-upon framework to avoid a "messy" future.


Teo agreed that Singapore is more excited than concerned about advances in AI technology. However, she emphasised the necessity for particular legislation to combat the growing threat of deepfakes during elections. Deepfakes, or modified films or pictures made using artificial intelligence, have the ability to fool voters and harm the democratic process.
