The tool aims to enhance consistency and reduce production costs for creating films and anime.
Based in Beijing, Shengshu AI showcased the "reference to video" feature of its Vidu tool during the event. CEO Tang Jiayu highlighted how this feature maintains uniformity in "subjects, scenarios, and style" across video clips, addressing a common challenge faced by generative AI technologies. Tang emphasised that this advancement will streamline production processes and lead to cost savings.
The "reference to video" feature has been integrated into Vidu since its public launch in July. The event coincides with a surge in competition within the AI video production sector, with companies like Kuaishou Technology and Zhipu AI introducing similar video-generation tools named Kling and Ying, respectively.
Kuaishou Technology recently promoted the use of Kling in the film industry by engaging nine renowned Chinese directors to create short films using the tool. Additionally, Chinese film director Li Ning announced plans to utilise AI tools, including Shengshu's Vidu, to produce China's first AI movie for theatrical release by the year-end.
Shengshu AI's CEO Tang highlighted the application of Vidu in crafting anime-style videos, underscoring the company's global reputation as a preferred choice for generating AI-powered anime content. The tool's efficiency in producing seamless clips of intricate subjects and dynamic action sequences sets it apart in the industry.
Established in March 2023, Shengshu AI has secured substantial funding from prominent tech companies like Baidu and Alibaba Group Holding's affiliate Ant Group, along with state-backed entities such as the Beijing AI Industry Investment Fund. The company's revenue primarily stems from subscriptions, predominantly from corporate clientele, as shared by Tang during the event.
