Samsung Tab S7 First Impressions: Handy Tablet For Working From Home

Working from home means I need devices for work, lying around my home within arm’s reach.

The Samsung Tab S7+ comes in handy, although a tad bit heavy especially when working on it with just one hand for a long period of time. But the good part is that you can use it as a tablet for a short period of time, and then use it as your alternative laptop or desktop.

The Tabs 7+ is good for workaholics because it was awarded the SGS Eye Care Certification, for low blue light emission, which means the 12.4” display is less harmful to the eyes.

The multi-active window function helps with productivity because it can accommodate 3 apps at once. What’s more, the updated App Pair feature lets you save app combinations that work best for you. This lets you combine 3 apps you use the most to launch at the same time.

It’s almost like having a mini version of my dual-screen desktop, in my hand, while working from the comforts of my sofa.

In the spirit of working from home, the Galaxy Tab S7’s front camera location has also been optimized for more efficient use. The front-facing camera is on landscape mode by default, which means it is perfect for Zoom and Skype calls with the people you work with or the ones you love.

One other thing that sets the Tab S7 apart is the improved S Pen. The current version is as close to writing on paper as one can get in a tablet. It has a 120hz refresh rate, which means decreased latency and a very smooth writing experience.

For the creative types who love to sketch, draw or doodle – Samsung bundled some productivity apps that you can put to good use. Optimised to bring out the best of the S Pen, apps like Clip Studio Paint, Noteshelf and Canva are all preloaded and are designed to work perfectly with the S Pen.

Despite its weight, the Tab S7+’s glass and aluminium body exude luxury and sophistication, and despite its size, Samsung managed to squeeze in four speakers for stereo sound that is immersive for a tablet.

If you have Samsung’s latest model TVs, you can also simply tap the Tab S7 at the corner to sync your tablet and screencast on to the bigger TV screen, for an even bigger view. All you need is to activate the Simple Things app, right on the Tab S7.

While you may find the Tab S7 good enough to serve as a laptop, it may still not be powerful enough to be your only device if you do a lot of work. However, it is useful as a secondary device that you can reach out for, without having to power up your notebook, when you have already shut it down for the night.

Also, be very aware that the keyboard is attached to the tablet itself with a magnetic mechanism – so do not push the tablet to the edge of a desk, or it may fall hard on the floor.

The Tab S7+ is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ mobile chip and boasts a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens camera, with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

If you find that the 12.4 inch Tab S7+ too big for you, consider the 11” Tab S7 version, which holds very well with just one hand as well.
