Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Line To Feature 14.6-Inch Ultra Model

Samsung is set to debut the first Ultra model of the Galaxy Tab S line with the Galaxy Tab S8 this year if various leaks are to be believed. The high-end option is said to combine flagship performance with a massive display.

According to German tech news outlet WinFuture, the Tab S8 Ultra features a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2960x1848 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. This is a pretty sizeable display upgrade going from the 12.4-inch panel of the Galaxy Tab S7+. It’s also quite a jump from the displays of its launch siblings, the standard Tab S8 and the Tab S8+, which feature an 11-inch panel and a 12.7-inch panel respectively.

The Ultra’s display, however, has a notch that houses the two front-facing 12MP cameras. The base and the middle model, in comparison, don’t have notches, as WinFuture points out.

The three tablets will reportedly ship with Qualcomm’s new top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with an Adreno 730 graphics card. All models will also include three rear cameras, a selfie camera (two for the Ultra model), under-display fingerprint readers, quad-speakers, S Pen support and the option for 5G connectivity.

For memory, the Ultra model can come with as much as 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space. The Tab S8 and Tab S8+, on the other hand, tops out at 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The Ultra also has the largest battery capacity among the three with an 11,200mAh pack. The Tab S8+ expectedly comes in at second with a 10,090mAh pack, followed by the Tab S8 with an 8,000mAh.

When it comes to prices, the Tab S8 Ultra could start somewhere between €1,040 to €1,220. Meanwhile, the Tab S8+ could retail in the €880 to €1,110 range. And lastly, the standard Tab S8 starts between €680 to €800. Of course, as with every device that launches, the rumoured prices are rarely reflective of the final local prices.

WinFuture thinks Samsung will launch the Tab S8 line at its February 8th Unpacked event, where it’ll join the new Galaxy S22 smartphones. While there’s no way to confirm this claim, the leaks of what appears to be official renders of the new tablets seem to suggest that the launch is near.
