Samsung's Android XR headset is anticipated to cost as much as USD 3,000, aligning with the price of Apple's Vision Pro headset. This new device will first be available in South Korea, before an unconfirmed global release.

According to Korean publication Newsworks, pre-orders for the headset are posited to commence on Sept. 29, leading to a release in October. Apple also launched its Vision Pro in its home market, the U.S., before expanding to other territories in 2024.
The estimated price range of USD 1,800 to USD 3,000 for the Samsung Android XR headset is derived from a currency conversion of South Korean won figures. The headset is projected to feature very high pixel density, designed to enhance VR or AR immersion.

Samsung announced the headset concept and its design in late 2024 as part of a collaboration with Google. This development signifies Samsung's return to the extended reality space since its earlier Gear VR headsets, and the introduction of the wider Android XR platform.
The Android XR platform, comparable to Meta's Horizon OS, is built upon the Android Open Source Project. While Samsung's headset will demonstrate platform capabilities, other manufacturers, such as XReal, are expected to introduce more affordable options like the Project Ara smart glasses, which resemble the USD 649 Real One Pro.
Samsung's Android XR headset is expected to cost up to USD 3,000, similar to Apple's Vision Pro.
According to a report, pre-orders are posited for Sept. 29, with an October release in South Korea, before an undetermined global launch.
Developed in partnership with Google, the headset signifies Samsung's re-entry into the extended reality market and launches the Android XR platform.
