Rokid has launched a ride hailing service on its AI glasses in partnership with Tencent Mobility, letting a wearer book a car by voice without taking out a phone at all. A user says a destination, and the glasses handle pickup points, fare comparison, booking and payment. Rokid describes it as the industry's first native ride hailing service for AI glasses, a claim the company makes itself with no outside party cited.

Once the Tencent Mobility agent is connected, the wearer only needs to say where they want to go. According to Pandaily, the glasses then read the spoken request, suggest pickup and drop off points, check nearby cars, estimate fares and compare vehicle types before anything is confirmed. The order is placed and the fare paid from the lens, with no phone in hand.

Payment runs without a password. And while the user waits, the number plate, car details and estimated arrival time stay in view, with voice reminders to look up. Android and iOS users need the Rokid AI app at version 1.15 to use the feature, according to the Chinese tech outlet Leikeji.

Nothing is typed along the way. The request is spoken, the options arrive as suggestions and the choice of vehicle type is settled before the order goes in. Rokid frames that as the point of the feature, since the handset stays in a pocket through the whole sequence and only comes out if something goes wrong.

The work is split between two agents. Rokid's agent handles the user, the conversation and the on lens display, while Tencent Mobility's agent supplies the ride hailing service. The pair connect directly over the Agent-to-Agent protocol, so the booking logic stays on Tencent Mobility's side and the glasses call it when needed for each request.

Tencent Mobility has packaged its ride hailing functions for wearables as standard services. They cover location suggestions, pickup point selection, nearby vehicle lookup, fare estimates and comparison, booking in a single tap, live order status and payment without a password. And the glasses call each one as the booking moves along.

Rokid argues the gain shows at the curb. Instead of checking a phone for the car's position, plate and arrival time, users keep that information in view. So finding the car at a crowded station, mall or roadside should be easier than reading a screen held in the hand.

The company also says voice booking lowers the barrier for older people, children and anyone less comfortable with smartphone apps. Rokid is clear the glasses are not meant to replace the phone. Payment issues, a changed destination or a cancellation remain the phone's job, which Rokid describes as the more reliable fallback.

In the company's account, glasses should start requests, give live reminders and handle interaction with the surroundings around the wearer. The phone takes complex confirmations, payment and exceptions. But the companies have not said which glasses models or cities are supported, and the announcement gives no launch window and no price for the service.

  • Ride hailing runs natively on Rokid AI glasses through Tencent Mobility, booked by voice alone

  • The glasses cover pickup points, fare comparison, booking and payment without a password

  • Two agents do the work, connected directly over the Agent-to-Agent protocol

  • Model support, cities, launch timing and pricing have not been disclosed
