Realme Hits 200 Million Shipment Milestone, Launches Premium Phones
Updated: Jan 5
Realme, a Chinese smartphone maker, has achieved a significant milestone by shipping over 200 million phones since its establishment just over five years ago.
The majority of these shipments were made outside of China. Realme, owned by BBK Electronics, the parent company of Oppo and Vivo, has become the fifth fastest smartphone maker to reach this milestone, according to data from Counterpoint Research.
Only four other companies, including Vivo, Huawei, Samsung, and Apple, have achieved this feat in a shorter time frame. Realme's success is even more remarkable considering the highly competitive smartphone market, which had over 700 brands in 2017 but has now reduced to around 250.
Xu Qi, Realme's chief marketing officer, expressed pride in the company's achievement and its consistent presence among the top 10 smartphone brands worldwide for the past five years. Realme is now gearing up to launch its premium phone, the Realme GT 5 Pro, which will feature Qualcomm's latest high-end chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and Sony's new Lytia camera sensor.
This milestone and the upcoming premium phone launch demonstrate Realme's commitment to innovation and its ambition to compete in the higher-end smartphone market. With its impressive growth and expanding product portfolio, Realme is poised to make further waves in the industry.
