Qualcomm Opens AI Research Centre in Vietnam to Boost Tech Innovation

U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm has launched an artificial intelligence research and development centre in Vietnam, aiming to advance generative and agentic AI technologies across multiple sectors.

The centre will focus on AI applications in smartphones, personal computers, extended reality (XR), automotive, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Qualcomm said the initiative aligns with Vietnam’s national strategies for AI, semiconductors, and digital transformation.

The company plans to support technology transfer, ecosystem collaboration, and capacity building through the new facility.

During a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday, Vietnamese President To Lam encouraged Qualcomm President of Global Affairs Alex Rogers to expand the company’s operations in the country.

Lam highlighted opportunities in Vietnam’s semiconductor and digital infrastructure sectors.
