Wear OS on Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Will Let You Use Google Pay, YouTube Music

In the recent Samsung Unpacked, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic and Galaxy Buds 2, which will all hit the market on 27 August 2021.

As mentioned in the event, the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic will feature Wear OS that will let you transact with Google Pay, listen to some great tunes on YouTube Music and more.

With Google Pay, people from the following countries can enjoy contactless payment: Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. Google aims to make the service available to other markets in the future.

Aside from that, Google Pay has an improved user interface (UI) that lets you see larger renderings of your credit cards, making it easier for you to view information about your payment methods. If you want to use this service, all you need to do is download the app on your smartwatch via Google Play.

But if you’re not in a spending mood and just want to jam out to your favourite tracks, then you can download YouTube Music on your wearable. This is YouTube Music’s first smartwatch app that lets YouTube Music Premium subscribers download music on the smartwatch without needing to be near their phone.

With its Smart Downloads functionality, the app gives you the opportunity to refresh downloaded songs when your watch is charging and connected to WiFi. Making the perfect playlist is possible on the wearable as well. Just like Google Pay, YouTube Music is available on Google Play.

On the other hand, users who want to communicate with their family and friends can rely on Messages by Google, where they can receive messages and reply to them without the need to whip out their phones. The app syncs with your phone, ensuring that you won’t miss out on any conversation.

Users in the United States, South Korea and Japan can directly download Messages on their watch. Meanwhile, some Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic owners from selected countries will already have the app on their smartwatch.

With the help of Google Maps, you can reach your destination with ease as the app provides turn-by-turn directions from your phone to your smartwatch. This will also help you make sure that you arrive at your desired location on time. As the watch app syncs with Google Maps on your phone, it will display your home, work addresses and recent searches for more efficient navigation.

Other apps are available on the Watch4 and Watch4 Classic, including Calm, Komoot, MyFitnessPal, Sleep Cycle, Spotify and Strava. Most of these platforms will have support for Tiles, Google’s widgets that show you information such as news headlines, weather updates, your heart rate, your scheduled appointments and more.
