Poco Launches F5, F5 Pro Flagship Smartphones
Updated: Dec 19, 2023
Poco touts that its latest duo of flagship smartphones are designed for those who love to game, take photos and have top-of-the-line specs alike.
The former Xiaomi sub brand on Tuesday, 9 May launched the F5 series, which consists of the standard F5 and the F5 Pro.
"Designed for dedicated techies who want the best forward-looking technology, we have created two devices that make gaming easier and even more enjoyable, taking photographs, creating video content, or using multiple apps," said Angus Ng, Head of Product Marketing at POCO Global.
The Poco F5 Pro is the Chinese brand's first release to feature a WQHD+ 120Hz AMOLED DotDisplay, making it great for gaming or watching movies. The 6.67-inch display also features 1400 nits of peak brightness and 68 billion colours as well as a self-developed super touch solution that supposedly reads touch inputs more accurately.
Under the hood, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, with three memory options: 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB. Poco says the chipset, along with its proprietary liquid cooling solutions, lower power consumption without compromising performance.
For cameras, the F5 Pro sports a triple-rear setup, which consists of 64MP main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. Poco adds that the camera system features a P3 colour gamut, which is 25% wider than sRGB and supports 8K video shooting.
It also houses a 5160mAh battery that supports 30W wireless fast charging and 67W wired turbo charging with the in-box charger. The battery can recharge from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes with the wireless option, while it can recharge the same amount in half that time with the wired option.
The standard F5, as Poco claims, is the first device to feature a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset in the global market. Similar to its more expensive stablemate, the 5G-enabled chipset's power efficiency and performance capabilities are boosted by the brand's proprietary liquid cooling solutions, providing a smooth experience for those who want to play games or run multiple apps simultaneously.
The device also features a 6.67-inch 120Hz Flow AMOLED DotDisplay with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4%. The display also supports 1920Hz PWM dimming and SGS-certified Low Blue Light Ex eye care to make viewing content easier on the eyes.
It also has a similar camera setup as the F5 Pro, highlighted by the 64MP main lens, but video shooting tops out at 4K resolution.
For battery, the F5 houses a 5000mAh pack that supports 67W wired turbo charging. Poco claims the battery can fully juice up from 0% to 100% in 50 minutes.
The F5 Pro comes in black and white colour options, while the standard F5 comes in white, blue and black. The former starts at S$659, and is now available for purchase exclusively on Poco's official Shopee store, while the latter starts at S$539, and is now available for purchase exclusively on Poco's official Lazada store.
