Singapore health and wellness appliance firm Osim International won its first CES Innovation Award on 11 November 2021 for its Smart DIY Massage Chair. The device was recognised as a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honouree in the Smart Home category.
The Smart DIY Massage Chair is an IoT device that can offer a full-body massage in just about any type of space, be it your own home or your office. That’s because it’s not a traditional chair per se. Instead, it’s a combination of two standalone devices – the uJolly 2 Smart back massager and uSqueez 2 Smart leg massager – that synchronise together to create a harmonious massage experience.
You just have to use Osim’s Smart DIY Massage Chair app to sync the two devices together. The app features 24 different combinations of full-body massage programmes that target both the legs and the back.
Osim added that the two devices are equipped with Enhanced Dual-Action V-Grip Technology and realistic reflexology massage techniques to target and soothe tense muscles.
The CES Innovation Awards is an annual competition that spotlights outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products worldwide. It’s organised by the Consumer Technology Association, the same group behind the world’s largest tech-focused trade show, CES.
"We are very proud to be a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honouree for the Smart DIY Massage Chair," said Ms Lynn Tan, Deputy CEO of Osim International. "To receive this international award amongst our distinguished global peers validates the efforts of our team to continuously explore the boundaries of innovation in health and well-being."
"With this particular product, we looked to realise the benefits of IoT technology to deliver more intuitive, responsive, and impactful products," touted Ms Tan.
This year, Osim’s uDream chair also won an AWE Smart Technology Award, a Red Dot Design Award and a DFA Design for Asia Merit Award. Osim itself was also recognised as one of Deloitte Singapore's Best Managed Companies.
