Oppo Pad Neo Review : Aiming to provide flagship-level performance at an affordable price tag.
The Oppo Pad Neo was launched in January 2024, looking to make a splash in the budget tablet market. With a vibrant 11.4-inch display, powerful internals, and long-lasting battery life, the Pad Neo offers compelling value for those seeking an affordable multimedia device.
The Pad Neo sports a sleek design with thin bezels surrounding its 11.4-inch display. Measuring just 6.9mm thin and weighing 538g, it feels comfortable to hold for extended periods. Its aluminium alloy frame and back panel feel premium. It has a subtle yet stylish look. In terms of ergonomics, the centred rear camera module avoids interfering with the grip. Overall, the Pad Neo cuts an impressive figure for a mid-range tablet.
The 11.4-inch LCD is one of the Pad Neo's highlights. With a resolution of 2408x1720 and 400 nits of brightness, images look detailed and vibrant. The OPPO Pad Neo has nearly 7% more screen area than conventional 5:3 tablet displays with similar diagonal screen lengths. The screen's 7:5 aspect ratio, similar to that of a book, provides a consistent visual experience across landscape, portrait, and split-screen modes. As someone who spends hours consuming content, the display is a great pick for multimedia enjoyment or even reading.
Powering the Pad Neo is the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset which delivers smooth multitasking. In my testing, apps loaded quickly and games ran without any lag. With up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, there's ample headroom for apps, files and more. The included RAM and storage options should satisfy most users' needs.
In addition to WiFi, the 4G variant keeps users connected on the go. The OPPO Pad Neo enables seamless integration of work and entertainment across devices. When the Pad Neo is in range of a compatible phone, it automatically connects and unlocks cross-device features for seamless synchronisation between the tablet and phone.
Communication Sharing allows users to share their phone's mobile network with the tablet, making it easier to connect online while on the go without relying on Wi-Fi networks. Content Sync lets users receive real-time photos, videos, and screenshots from their phones on the Pad Neo. Connected devices allow for seamless text copying and pasting across devices. As someone who switches between devices, I can see these cross-device functions saving me lots of time. Bluetooth 5.2 also ensures seamless connectivity with peripherals.
The 8000mAh battery is a big highlight. In my use, the Pad Neo easily lasted over a day even with heavy usage. The included 33W SUPERVOOC charger topped it up swiftly too. The battery life makes it a reliable companion for entertainment or productivity throughout the day.
The dual 8MP rear and front cameras can capture decent photos and 1080p video. While not the tablet's main focus, they are adequate for occasional snapping and video calls on the go.
