OpenAI Revenue Doubles to USD 10 Billion Amid Soaring AI Demand

OpenAI’s annualised revenue run rate has reached USD 10 billion as of June, nearly doubling from USD 5.5 billion in December 2024, the company announced Monday.
The surge reflects rapid adoption of its ChatGPT artificial intelligence models, positioning the company to meet its full-year revenue target.
OpenAI is now on track to achieve its previously shared 2025 revenue goal of USD 12.7 billion.
The USD 10 billion figure excludes licensing revenue from Microsoft, a major OpenAI backer, as well as large one-time deals, according to a company spokesperson.
The milestone highlights OpenAI’s lead in revenue scale over competitors, despite reporting a loss of about USD 5 billion last year.
Rival AI firm Anthropic recently surpassed USD 3 billion in annualised revenue, driven by demand from code-generation startups.
In March, OpenAI said it planned to raise up to USD 40 billion in a new funding round led by SoftBank Group, valuing the company at USD 300 billion.
Since launching ChatGPT more than two years ago, OpenAI has introduced a range of subscription services for both consumers and businesses.
As of the end of March, the company reported 500 million weekly active users.
