This marks the company's third office, with headquarters in San Francisco and a recently opened office in London. The Dublin office currently has three job listings across various teams, but OpenAI plans to expand its workforce in the near future.

According to Jason Kwon, OpenAI's Chief Strategy Officer, the company aims to grow deliberately and establish a strong company culture before scaling up. While the Dublin office will not serve as the European headquarters and will not have an executive running it initially, Kwon expressed the intention to open more roles in the future.

Dublin has become a popular choice for U.S. tech companies, offering access to a talent pool familiar with the culture of companies like Meta and Google. Additionally, Ireland provides a favorable regulatory and business development environment for engaging with Europe. Kwon clarified that tax implications did not influence the decision, as OpenAI is currently not profitable.

OpenAI has gained attention and faced regulatory challenges with its ChatGPT, which is the second fastest-growing app in history after Meta's Threads app. The company's data-collecting practices have drawn criticism from privacy watchdogs in Europe.
