Updated: Dec 19, 2023
Nothing is expanding its portfolio of audio devices with the launch of the black edition of the Ear (2).

The London-based smartphone maker announced the new variant of the earbuds today, alongside new software features coming to the companion app. The earbuds themselves and the internal casing still feature the brand's signature transparent design but now come in a smoky finish and a matte black colour way.
The Ear (2), as Nothing touts, features Hi-Res Audio certification and LHDC 5.0 technology. They additionally come equipped with an 11.6 mm custom driver to output deep bass and clear highs. They also come with dual connection capabilities for seamless switching between devices as well as different sound profiles to cater to different audio needs. Meanwhile, the Clear Voice Technology coupled with Personalised Active Noise Cancellation adapts to the wearer's ear canal to automatically adjust the level of noise cancellation in real time.
The new variant, priced at S$199, is available now via a limited drop on Nothing's website and is expected to become more widely available from 21 July. Those who want to score units early can either purchase them at the Nothing Store Soho in London on 13 July or at Chamber Store in Wisma Atrial on 15 July.

Nothing is also debuting new features on its Nothing X app to help enhance the audio experience of users.
The first of which is advanced equaliser, a new feature that brings a deep level of customisation for how users want to hear their music. These come via a parametric 8-band equaliser with a real-time preview of the changes, the full Q factor and frequency control. Advanced equaliser is available on the app starting today for both Ear (2) and Ear (stick) users.
The other new feature is noise reduction for Ear (stick), which enables users to attenuate ambient noises to further enjoy their music. The feature is available on the app starting today.
