The Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which hit the market in October last year, allow users to livestream directly from the glasses to their followers on popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These smart glasses are equipped with Meta AI, enabling users to obtain information about the objects they are looking at.

The initial version of smart glasses, called Ray-Ban Stories, faced challenges in gaining traction among consumers. However, the CEO of EssilorLuxottica, Francesco Milleri, believes that the success of the new generation can be attributed to the groundwork laid by the first version. Speaking at an event in Milan, Milleri stated, "Today, people's expectations are clearer... hence the success of the second generation."

It is worth noting that the AI feature on the Ray-Ban Meta glasses is currently limited to the United States and not available in Europe. Milleri mentioned that they are eagerly awaiting the decision on the new Artificial Intelligence Act in Europe, hoping for its arrival soon. Once the regulatory framework is in place, the AI capabilities of the glasses can be extended to European users as well.

Highlighting the significance of the partnership with Meta, Milleri emphasized that Meta is a "key partner" for EssilorLuxottica. He further stated that their group's brands can act as "a cultural intermediary to bring technology to people".
