Microsoft will launch new AI-enabled Surface devices powered by Qualcomm chips at lower prices, aiming to expand access to its Copilot+ features.

The Surface Laptop 13-inch and Surface Pro 12-inch tablet will be available starting May 20. The laptop will start at USD 899, while the tablet will start at USD 799.
These are the most affordable Microsoft devices to support Copilot+, a suite of AI tools introduced last year. Features include natural language queries for system settings and AI-generated first drafts for Word documents.
Previously, Copilot+ required high-performance chips, limiting availability to devices priced above USD 1,000.
Pavan Davuluri, Corporate Vice President of Windows and Devices at Microsoft, said the new Surface models are designed for users who prioritise affordability, such as students and early-career professionals.
