Microsoft will require employees to work from the office at least three days a week starting next year, the company announced in a blog post on Tuesday. This decision marks a significant shift from the work-from-home setup many companies adopted during the pandemic.

The policy will be implemented in three distinct phases, beginning with employees located near the company's headquarters in Redmond, Washington. Other U.S. locations will follow, with international employees included in the final phase.
Chief People Officer Amy Coleman detailed the plans in the company's blog post. Employees residing within 50 miles (80.5 km) of Microsoft's main office are expected to work onsite three days a week by the end of Feb. 2026.

Specific timelines and further details for additional U.S. office locations are expected to be announced soon. Planning for employees outside the U.S. is scheduled to commence next year.
This move aligns with a broader trend among some technology organisations, including Amazon, that have begun to roll back their work-from-home policies and mandate workers to return to physical offices.
