President Brad Smith disclosed the restriction during a U.S. Senate hearing on Thursday focused on the AI race with China.

Smith said Microsoft does not carry Deepseek’s app in its store, highlighting the potential for data to be sent back to China and for the app to generate content linked to Chinese propaganda.
