The software giant unveiled what it touts as the "most powerful" Surface laptop yet, the Surface Laptop Studio 2. So powerful that during the event, the laptop was shown outperforming the M2 Max-equipped MacBook Pro in Blender.

The laptop ships with an Intel 13th Gen i7 H class processor, an Nvidia RTX 4050 or 4060 GPU and 64GB of RAM. It also includes an adaptive, touch-enabled trackpad, plus a Surface Slim Pen 2. The 14.4-inch touchscreen panel, meanwhile, features a 120hz refresh rate, Dolby IQ and HDR.

When it comes to battery life, Microsoft says the laptop can be used for up to 18 hours on a single charge.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 starts at US$1,999. Pre-orders start today, with a release date of 3 October 2023.

Alongside the Studio 2, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Laptop Go 3. The new device, according to the software giant, is faster than before, shipping with refreshed specs. It features a 12.4-inch touchscreen, a fingerprint power button and up to 15 hours of battery life. For connectivity, it has one USB-A port, one USB-C port and an audio jack.

The Surface Laptop Go 4 was also quietly launched for enterprises. It touts a small performance boost, exchanging its predecessor’s two-core Intel Pentium processor for a four-core Intel N200 processor.

The Surface Laptop Go 3 starts at US$799, while the Surface Go 4 starts at US$579. Pre-orders for both laptops start today, with a release of 3 October 2023.

Microsoft is also releasing the latest Windows 11 update on 26 September 2023, which would bring the AI-powered assistant Copilot and support for RAR and 7-zip file types to Windows.

Copilot would be natively available across different Microsoft apps and services, such as Windows 11, Microsoft 365 and Edge. The assistant, which leverages generative AI tech, can use users' browsing or productivity data to perform different tasks, including drafting messages, creating music playlists or shopping for items. On 365 apps, users can asks the assistant to summarise or rewrite documents, among others. The feature will be available to 365 subscribers on business and enterprise plans for an additional $30 per month beginning 1 November 2023.

Microsoft's latest Windows 11 update also adds volume mixer to individually control the volume of different apps as well as a new Dynamic Lighting setting.
