Meta AI App Extends Parental Supervision Worldwide, Including Singapore

Meta has expanded parental supervision to its standalone Meta AI app worldwide, including Singapore, allowing parents and guardians to understand the topics teenagers have discussed with the AI assistant over the past seven days without seeing their private conversations. Families can also activate a stricter content setting to limit the kinds of AI discussions available to teenagers. The rollout extends oversight tools previously introduced for supervised Teen Accounts on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.

The supervision tools show parents the subjects their teenagers have asked Meta AI about during the previous week, rather than the actual questions, answers or full conversation histories.
Parents can also switch from the app’s default 13+ setting to Limited Content, which further restricts the types of conversations teenagers can have with the AI assistant. The controls can be set up directly in the Meta AI app or through Meta’s Family Center.
Meta introduced similar AI conversation insights for parents supervising Teen Accounts on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram in April. Those tools initially launched in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Brazil.
According to Meta, its existing protections for Teen Accounts are designed to deliver age-appropriate responses. The assistant may decline certain questions or direct teenagers to resources instead. Even when a question is declined, a supervising parent can still see the topic their teenager raised.
The worldwide expansion brings these parental controls to Meta’s dedicated AI app, offering families more visibility into teenage AI use without providing access to the conversations themselves.
