M1 Launches Zolaz, a Cloud Gaming Service With Over 400 Games

Singapore telco M1 Limited today launched Zolaz, a cloud gaming service that lets you stream and play a catalogue of games anywhere, anytime and on any device.

The service is touted as an "all-you-can-play" on-demand experience, featuring over 400 high-quality games ranging from AAA to indie releases. Some notable games include first-person shooter Metro Exodus, the cooperative RPG Warhammer: Chaosbane and the popular party favourite Overcooked, among so many others. The catalogue also covers multiple genres, from games the whole family can enjoy to more casual experiences that you can easily pick up and play.

Similar to Netflix, the service uses a click-and-play model, meaning games are directly streamed from the cloud, which saves you from having to wait for them to download and install on your device. Another advantage of this model is that you can play graphically-demanding games like the aforementioned Metro Exodus without needing a decked-out rig.

The service is available on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS, letting you seamlessly switch between multiple devices, such as your laptops and your smartphones. You can have up to five profiles on a single subscription, which should help personalise the gaming experience of each user in your household. Also, you can enable parental controls, so that you can have the peace of mind that your children won't be able to play the games they shouldn't be playing. This includes PEGI ratings and the ability to create a child profile.

“Cloud gaming has always been a possibility but its potential has so far depended on network speeds, data tariffs and latency," said Mr Manjot Singh Mann, Chief Executive Officer of M1. "M1’s True 5G network resolves this with its high speed and low latency, so that graphically intensive games can now be seamlessly played on-the-go and

without need for expensive hardware."

“M1 is on track to roll-out nationwide 5G outdoor coverage by the end of this year. Zolaz is part of our 5G ambitions to develop and launch 5G commercial use cases across consumer, enterprise and government sectors," he added.

You can sign up for Zolaz via its official website or the My M1 App. The cloud gaming subscription is priced at S$14.98 per month with no contract. If you sign up now, you'll also receive one free month. In case you want to try the service first, you'll be able to experience Zolaz at M1’s flagship store at Peranakan Place starting today.
