LG Debuts New OLED TVs, Vacuum Ahead of CES 2023 Press Conference
LG is among the many appliance brands making their in-person return to this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The South Korean appliance giant has already announced a number of new products ahead of this weekend's festivities, including new OLED TVs and a new vacuum.
OLED TVs
The new LG G3 series of TVs come with a Brightness Booster Max feature that can deliver up to 70% more brightness, making it easier to view your screen in a well-lit room or during the daytime. The feature is powered by new light control architecture and light-boosting algorithms.
The Brightness Booster feature is also coming to the 8K-supported LG Z3 evo TVs, but they can only go 30% brighter than last year's models.
Meanwhile, the G3 and Z3 series, along with the C3, all ship with the a9 Gen 6 processor under the hood, providing other cool display features like artificial intelligence-enabled upscaling, high dynamic range (HDR) tone mapping and object-based picture sharpening. The processor is also key to the AI-powered audio processing, allowing the 9.1.2-channel surround sound from the built-in speakers to sound more immersive.
What's more, LG decluttered the interface to only include two pages of apps content, so that you spend less time scrolling. There are also fewer categories, not to mention the addition of quick cards makes it much easier to access your favourites.
The Z3 series remains the brand's flagship in 2023, coming in 77- and 88-inch 8K options. The G3 series, however, could be a better choice if you plan to mount your TV as it boasts a new zero-gap design that allows it to sit flush against a wall. It comes in multiple size options ranging from 55 inches to 97 inches, with the Brightness Booster Max being available on the 55-, 65- and 77-inch options. The C3 series similarly comes in multiple size options, ranging from 42 inches to 83 inches.
LG has yet to announce pricing and release details for its 2023 lineup of OLED TVs.
CordZero A9 Kompressor vacuum
Apart from TVs, LG debuted the new CordZero A9 Kompressor, a versatile vacuum cleaner with steam mopping functionality. The new cordless model comes with a detachable Steam Power Mop nozzle, letting you effectively clean surfaces without the need for detergent. When you toggle the steam mopping function, the mop pads are warmed at a temperature of about 60 degrees Celsius, which enables it to remove stains from flooring more easily than conventional wet mopping solutions.
The Steam Power Mop attachment comes with dual sensors that help prevent it from overheating. It also features an automatic water supply system that keeps the mop pads wet during mopping.
Other features of the new vacuum include a safety setting that automatically shuts the steam supply after a period of inactivity and LG's Axial Turbo Cyclone technology, which uses powerful suction to remove dust and debris from floors and surfaces.
The CordZero A9 Kompressor also ships with an All-in-One Tower docking station that recharges its battery as well as empty and replaces its dust bag.
No pricing or release details have been announced yet, but the vacuum is expected to make an appearance at LG's CES 2023 exhibition booth.
New Colour Option for Refrigerator with MoodUp
LG also unveiled a new colour option for its refrigerator with MoodUp, which was launched at IFA 2022. The brand partnered with the world-renowned Pantone Colour Institute to launch Viva Magenta on the colour-changing appliance. The new addition brings the total number of colours of the upper door panel of the fridge to 23. You can change the colour of the fridge door using the LG ThinQ app.
LG is scheduled to host its LG World Premiere press conference at CES 2023, where it'll share key areas of focus in the coming year and announce new innovations and products. The conference, themed "Life is Good", kicks off at 00:00 (SGT) on 5 January. It'll be livestreamed on the company's website and its global YouTube channel.
