Huawei Technologies and UBTech Robotics have announced a partnership to accelerate the development and deployment of humanoid robots in industrial and household settings.

The agreement was signed in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, where both companies are based. The collaboration aims to transition humanoid robots from laboratory prototypes to large-scale use in smart factories and homes.
Huawei will support UBTech in establishing an innovation centre focused on embodied intelligence, a form of artificial intelligence that integrates cognitive processes with physical bodies.
The partnership will also leverage Huawei’s self-developed Ascend and Kunpeng AI processors, along with its cloud computing and large AI model technologies.
UBTech’s shares rose nearly 10% on Monday following the announcement. The Hang Seng Index also climbed 3%, marking its best single-day performance since early March.
China’s robotics sector is expanding rapidly, with the domestic market expected to double this year to reach 5.3 billion yuan (USD 732 million), according to consultancy LeadeRobot.
TrendForce reported that six of 11 Chinese humanoid robot manufacturers plan to produce more than 1,000 units this year.
UBTech, a leading robotics developer in China, aims to produce 1,000 humanoids this year, according to Chairman and CEO Zhou Jian.
The company has also partnered with Midea Group and Easyhome New Retail Group to promote humanoid robot use in factories and homes.
Earlier this year, Huawei’s affiliate Shenzhen Hubble Technology Investment acquired a 1.4% stake in robotics start-up Spirit AI.
In November, Huawei launched a global innovation centre for embodied intelligence and signed strategic partnerships with 16 companies, including Shenzhen-based Huayan Robotics and Leju Robot.
