The Chinese tech giant officially announced the FreeClip earbuds and MatePad Pro 13.2" tablet in an event held in Dubai on 12 December 2023, with plans to launch the two products locally in January 2024.

The FreeClip earbuds feature an open-ear design that can deliver quality audio while ensuring you can stay attuned to your surroundings.

In its research, Huawei found that many listeners find conventional open-ear earbuds to be lacking in comfort, audio quality and aesthetics. So it developed the new earbuds prioritising comfort and style, featuring a C-bridge design that delivers optimal comfort for different ear sizes and shapes. The design also connects the earbuds’ acoustic, battery

and control system, with the Ni-Ti shape memory alloy containing nine core wires and one memory steel wire. At the same time, it's able to maintain a weight of 5.6g, making it lightweight and comfortable enough to be worn a full day.

The Freeclip features two key technologies that help it stand out from other open-ear earbuds: the 10.8mm Dual Magnet High-Sensitivity Driver Unit and the Reverse Sound Waves System. The former increases the speaker driving capability, capturing nuanced tones of your music, while the latter can intelligently adjust volume and cancel distant sound waves at the same time.

What's more, the earbuds integrate dual sound rear vents on the acoustic ball to offset leakage sound waves, minimising the

The FreeClip also doesn't distinguish between left and right ears thanks to Huawei's Smart Wear Detection technology. This prevents mismatched earbuds from resulting in inconsistent sound or any discomfort to the ears. And because the earbuds can be used interchangeably, you can optimise battery life in scenarios where you might only need to use a single earbud, such as a call, for example. Speaking of which, the earbuds can last up to eight hours of listening time or five hours of talk time on a single charge. Alternatively, you can enjoy up to 36 hours of usage with a fully charged charging case.

Huawei adds that the FreeClip features IP54-level water and dust resistance, making it durable enough to be used in outdoor environments.

Alongside the earbuds, Huawei also launched the MatePad Pro 13.2", one of its thinnest and most capable tablets yet. The device features an OLED panel on a 5.5 mm thick and 580g body and is surrounded by 3.4 mm bezels to produce a 94% screen-to-body ratio. It supports the use of M-Pencil (third generation) stylus powered by NearLink technology and the Huawei Smart Magnetic Keyboard.

No word yet on the local prices of the two devices.
