Hackers Disrupt Poland Euro 2024 Match Broadcast in Second Attack
Hackers disrupt Poland's Euro 2024 match broadcast for the second time. The attack was a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, overwhelming the servers. TVP apologises for the technical difficulties and provides an alternative website for fans to watch the game.
TVP, the state broadcaster, stated that a cyberattack damaged the internet broadcast of Poland's match versus Austria on Friday. This event follows a similar attack that took place during Poland's game against the Netherlands on Sunday.
Preliminary findings indicate that the hackers used a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack to overwhelm the servers with excessive traffic. As a result, spectators were unable to view the Group D battle via TVP's feed.
Recognising the technical difficulties caused by viewers, TVP issued an apology on X, stating: "We apologise for technical problems related to the broadcast of the Poland-Austria match on the Internet," To reduce the impact of the attack, TVP quickly developed an alternate website where spectators could continue to watch the game.
Interestingly, TVP discovered that the earlier attack on Sunday came from IP addresses in Poland. However, no information has been released about the source of the new hack on Friday.
