Google has revealed its latest advancements in extended reality (XR) with the introduction of Android XR glasses powered by Gemini AI, showcased at Google I/O 2025.

The new platform integrates Gemini AI into glasses and headsets, enabling hands-free assistance that sees and hears from the user's perspective. This allows the assistant to understand context and provide real-time support.
Android XR is the first Android platform built in the Gemini era and supports a range of devices, including headsets and smart glasses.
Samsung’s upcoming Project Moohan headset, expected later this year, will run on Android XR and offer immersive experiences on an infinite screen.
The glasses, equipped with a camera, microSphones and speakers, work with a smartphone to access apps without needing to reach for the device. An optional in-lens display provides private, on-demand information.
Demonstrations at the event included real-world uses such as messaging, scheduling, navigation, photography and live language translation, with subtitles appearing in real time.
Google is collaborating with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to develop stylish Android XR glasses. Future partnerships include Kering Eyewear.
The company is also expanding its partnership with Samsung to create a software and reference hardware platform for Android XR glasses. Developers will be able to start building for the platform later in 2025.
Google is currently testing prototypes with trusted users to ensure privacy and usability, with more updates on availability expected in the coming months.
