Google Pixel 7 Series Coming to Singapore Starting at S$999

Updated: Oct 7, 2022

Google has finally launched the long-awaited Pixel 7 series. This year's lineup comprises the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, alongside the much-leaked Pixel Watch smartwatch. The phones carry forward the Pixel 6's distinctive rear camera bar but this time, instead of camouflaging the cameras with black glass, the bar itself is now made out of metal, making the lenses stand out.

For the screen, the vanilla Pixel 7 sports a slightly smaller 6.3-inch 90Hz OLED compared to its predecessor's 6.4-inch display, although Google claims it is 25% brighter. On the other hand, the Pro gets the same 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Both devices are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and have IP68 dust and water resistance.

Under the hood is where it gets interesting, as this year's Pixels run on Google's updated custom chipset focused on machine learning, the Tensor G2 — the SoC is paired with the Titan M2 security chip. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro come with 8GB and 12GB of RAM respectively, with 128GB and 256GB storage options.

Of course, the main focus of Pixel smartphones is the cameras. The new lineup retains last year's camera setups, with both models getting a 50MP main shooter and a 12MP ultra-wide. As per its predecessor, the 7 Pro is also exclusively equipped with a 48MP telephoto lens. Up front, the new Pixel series features 10.8MP selfie cameras.

As for the battery, the Pixel 7 Pro is powered by the same 5,000mAh battery while the regular Pixel gets downgraded to a smaller 4,355mAh capacity, although both devices boast improved battery life. The series supports 30W fast charging as well as wireless charging and reverse wireless charging to power up your other devices.

Google also announced the Pixel Watch, the tech giant's first smartwatch under the Pixel brand. As expected from recent leaks, the 41mm watch sports relatively big bezels but still manages to look sleek with its curved edges and circular design.

The Pixel Watch has an AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass and claims only a 24-hour battery life. It's powered by an Exynos 9110 chipset, runs on WearOS 3.5 and comes with all the usual smartwatch sensors to measure your blood oxygen, heart rate and more.

The Pixel 7 starts from S$999 for the 128GB variant and S$1,129 for 256GB, while the 7 Pro goes for S$1,299 for 128GB and S$1,449 for 256GB. Each model comes with three colour options for the 128GB variant but if you want 256GB of storage, that configuration only comes in Obsidian.

The Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are available for pre-order now on the Google Store, Amazon SG, Courts Online, Challenger Online and Shopee. The devices will be available online and in-store from 13 October and each purchase of either phone will come with a S$250 Google Store coupon. As for the watch, Google has not said whether or not it will be released in Singapore.
