Google Pixel 7 Launching in October, Says Trusted Leaker
The launch of Google's new duo of flagship handsets is right around the corner, if a trusted leaker is to be believed.
YouTuber Jon Prosser, who cites "very reputable sources", claims both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are scheduled to hit the market on 13 October. Pre-orders for the two start on 6 October, which is said to be the same day Google plans to hold its launch event.
Historically, Google launched almost every Pixel device in the month of October, giving some credence to Prosser's claim. The Pixel 5 was notably unveiled on the last day of September 2020, but given the current supply chain issues in many parts of the world, an October announcement and release for the Pixel 7 seems more likely.
While it's always advised to take leaks on the internet with a grain of salt, Prosser has quite a reputable track record when it comes to claims. In an article on his own tech news site Front Page Tech, the leaker cited previous predictions he made which were proven true, including the exact release date of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro and the price of the Pixel 5A.
Perhaps the only piece of information that we don't know yet about the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro are their prices. Prosser said they’ll be “very reminiscent” of last year’s releases, but as to what that means, it’s not entirely clear.
It might not come to anyone’s surprise that Google’s new flagships are close to coming out, considering how there’s been a multitude of leaks surrounding them over the last few months. Someone from Ghana in July even managed to buy a prototype unit of the Pixel 7 Pro from a seller on Facebook.
Google first announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at its annual I/O developer conference in May, sharing a glimpse at the design of the two flagships. Since then, however, the search engine giant has been mostly tightlipped about the forthcoming releases.
