The sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the upcoming Pixel smartphone models will be manufactured at Foxconn's current factory in Tamil Nadu. This agreement is an important step for Google in its efforts to diversify its supply chain and lessen dependency on China.
Foxconn, a company famed for its skill in electronics production, already assembles Apple iPhones at a site near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The decision to manufacture Pixel phones in Tamil Nadu reflects the state's favourable business environment and talented workforce.
The move comes as global firms are aggressively looking for alternatives to China due to geopolitical concerns between Beijing and Washington.
