Google is preparing to unveil a new artificial intelligence agent designed to assist software developers, according to a report by The Information.

The AI agent is intended to support engineers throughout the software development process, including task management and code documentation. The report cites three individuals who have either seen demonstrations of the product or received information from Google employees.
The tech company has reportedly been showcasing the AI agent to both employees and external developers in the lead-up to its annual developer event.
Google may also present a voice-enabled version of its Gemini AI chatbot integrated with Android XR glasses and headsets, the report said.
The Google I/O conference is scheduled to take place next week in Mountain View, California, with the keynote address set for May 20.
Investors have been pressuring Google to deliver results from its significant investments in artificial intelligence, as competition in the sector continues to grow.
The company’s core search and advertising technology businesses are also under scrutiny from antitrust regulators.
