“Durable, accurate and ready to go the distance, the Edge 1040 Solar is the pinnacle of GPS bike computers,” touted Mr Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager of Garmin Asia. “No matter where you ride, or what bike you choose to use, the Edge 1040 Solar is ready for any adventure – from remote gravel trails to epic climbs.”

What makes this device so handy is that it draws power from the sun, allowing you to get more ride time in between charges. It’s equipped with a Power Glass solar charging lens that lets it stay powered for up to 100 hours in battery saver mode.

Additionally, it includes multi-band GNSS technology for more accurate GPS positioning. The feature even works in challenging ride environments, such as dense urban areas or under deep tree cover.

Other navigational features include ride-type-specific maps powered by Trendline, turn-by-turn navigation, off-course notifications and more.

The device also lets you classify your strengths and weaknesses, and set specific course demands to help you improve upon them. It even has a power guide to help you manage your efforts through a course, as well as stamina insights to monitor your exertion levels in real-time.

Sticking to helpful performance stats, your device will provide you with insights from Firstbeat Analytics, including VO2 max, recovery time and training load, among others. This will allow you to get an overview of how your body is responding to your training. You’ll even receive workouts that are created based on your performance. The device also shows other metrics related to ascents and heat and altitude acclimation, along with jump count and jump distance, to name a few examples, for mountain bike riding.

You can sync your workouts from the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone to the Edge 1040 Solar.

The solar-powered GPS bike computer is available now on Lazada, Shopee, Garmin Online Store and authorised retailers for S$1,159. A non-solar charging version, the Edge 1040, is also available for S$929.
