A new video from Chinese robotics firm Fourier Robotics showcases its GR-3 humanoid, described as the "world's most adorable," assisting humans in various scenarios while displaying emotions like empathy and kindness. The humanoid robot, part of Fourier's GRx lineup, was unveiled last month as the latest addition to the series.

Known as "Care-bot," the GR-3 is engineered to carry out tasks while demonstrating a range of human-like emotions. This capability sets it apart from traditional robots, bringing it closer to human interaction.

Fourier Robotics also introduced new robotic equipment that enables humans to remotely access and control the GR-3. This allows for interaction and operation from significant distances.

In the video, the robot helps an art curator recall details about museum artworks using its eidetic memory. It also impresses with multilingual communication skills, guiding visitors in various languages.

The GR-3 also functions as a home assistant, aiding busy moms by remembering daily schedules to help balance work and family life. Furthermore, a 17-year-old student uses the GR-3 as a still life model for a painting.

During the art demonstration, the humanoid displays visual recognition capabilities, reacting to a wave by waving back and performing human-like locomotion by imitating movements. The robot weighs 71 kilograms and stands 165 centimetres tall.

It features 55 degrees of freedom for balance and natural movements, alongside an animated facial interface and fluid gait that convey personality. These elements replace mechanical detachment with a lifelike charm.

The GR-3’s emotional intelligence originates from Fourier’s Full-Perception Multimodal Interaction System, which integrates sight, sound, and touch into a single, real-time engine. The robot can make eye contact and recognise human faces through its integrated cameras.

Equipped with 31 pressure sensors, the GR-3 detects touch and responds with lifelike actions such as blinking, eye tracking, and other emotional gestures. It also features a swappable battery for non-stop operation, smart power management, and flexible movement modes.

These modes allow the robot to squat, bend, and walk with styles like a "bouncy walk" or "fatigue mode," depending on the situation. Its "soft aesthetic" and charming appearance distinguish it from traditional humanoid designs.

Unlike its predecessors, the GR-1 and GR-2, which were designed for industrial and research purposes, the GR-3 focuses on social settings and daily chores. Its emotional and social intelligence, coupled with touch and sensory feedback, makes it feel more like a companion.
